About
The Pharmacy and Medication Use SIG brings together the people who turn medication data into better care. Medications touch nearly every patient and every dollar in healthcare, yet pharmacy data remains some of the messiest and most misunderstood in the industry. We exist to change that. Together, we share practical solutions, compare notes across all practice sites, and learn from each other’s wins and hard-earned lessons.
Our Goals
- Build community: Create a welcoming space where pharmacy data professionals across all practice settings can connect, ask questions, and share openly.
- Share practical knowledge: Exchange real-world solutions, tools, and lessons learned in medication use analytics, from drug spend to clinical outcomes.
- Advance data quality and standards: Promote better practices around pharmacy data sources, terminologies, and interoperability so members spend less time untangling data and more time using it.
- Grow member expertise: Offer educational sessions, case studies, and peer discussions that help members develop skills and advance their careers.
- Amplify pharmacy’s voice in analytics: Elevate the role of medication use data in enterprise analytics strategy and demonstrate its value to organizational leaders.

Chapter Chair
Bob Owens
Bob Owens, PharmD, MS, MBA, serves as Director of Pharmacy Data Analytics, Systems & Innovation at Advocate Health, where he leads teams working at the intersection of pharmacy operations, data engineering, and emerging technology. A pharmacist by training and an engineer by passion, Bob brings a rare dual perspective to medication use analytics. He is equally at home in clinical workflows and in code. His experience spans operational acute care leadership, 340B program analytics and management, drug data pipelines, creating comprehensive pharmacy data architectures, implementing data governance, and applying AI to pharmacy’s toughest data challenges. Bob is leading the relaunch of this SIG with a simple goal: to build the community of peers he wished he’d had earlier in his career, one that speaks both pharmacy and data.
