From a Small Forum to a Global Community
Since 2001, HDAA has grown from a single meeting of data professionals into a thriving association spanning 42 countries — all united by a commitment to better healthcare through analytics.
How It All Began
Individuals from Intermountain Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, and Presbyterian Healthcare Services proposed a peer forum for discussing healthcare data warehousing — free of marketing influence.
The group established membership guidelines — providers large and small, payers, healthcare-related agencies — with minimal overhead, an emphasis on volunteers, and adopted the name Healthcare Data Warehousing Association.
The organization formalized its mission and incorporated under its current name: HDAA, placing healthcare analytics at the service of improved patient outcomes.

Stepping Up When It Mattered Most
During the COVID-19 pandemic starting in spring 2020, healthcare analytics was front and center in the national conversation.
HDAA hosted more than two dozen town halls in 2020 and 2021 devoted to COVID-19 analytics and equity in healthcare delivery, encompassing predictive modeling, case rate aggregation, and understanding disparities in care.
The town halls continue today as an online discussion platform for trends in the profession — a lasting legacy of HDAA’s commitment to keeping practitioners connected and informed.
Programs and Initiatives
Developed in partnership with Rutgers Business School, this webinar series attracts the next generation of healthcare analytics practitioners by uniting students with nearly two dozen working professionals.
Over a dozen special interest groups covering a wide range of technologies and practices, enabling members to go deep on the topics most relevant to their work.
HDAA is piloting local chapters in seven locations, fostering local meetups, regional topics, and networking with neighbors in the healthcare analytics community.
